Marianna Manzler’s “Rupture”
“Briana helped me to parse through my disjointed vignettes and scenes, find the beating heart behind my piece, and shape it into something beautiful and cohesive! I read the beginning of the "Rupture" essay the other night at the Writers of Color reading, and I was reminded of how much permission and agency she gave to me throughout the process to lean into my voice, my authentic self on the page. Strip away the BS and look at my writing from both a bird's eye view and a granular level. The revision process came so naturally to us, and I remember scrolling through her comments and feeling inspired to keep writing and reaching toward that next step. I am so appreciative for her keen eye and generosity of spirit when it comes to reading work, providing feedback, and how carefully she considers the writer's intent. She is here to help, and we had so much fun in our second go around, when I asked her to provide editorial support on my memoir manuscript. Actually sending the newest draft rn!!!”
