Amy Rose Lafty’s “My father is a crab nebula”

“I can't believe how many times I had the chance to bounce ideas back and forth with Briana. Even when my poem brought me to my most emotional moments, she always seemed to know how to open up other possibilities/directions for me to try. If I am fortunate enough to have other poems accepted by other publications in the future, I know I will not have the same time and space to develop something as I did with Briana. She found a way to both nurture and challenge me. She held a lot of safe space for me as I worked through an incredibly difficult topic. It was an absolute dream to work with Briana. She took a poem I had already been working on for two years and helped to give it the shape it needed to finally be in the world. She is patient, smart, and compassionate. I was truly sad to see our work together come to a close.”
